English fashion designer Stella McCartney has been honored at the world's leading performing arts space, the Lincoln Center in New York, with a Women’s Leadership Award. Stella McCartney was presented the award for her commitments to her socially conscious and philanthropic activities, marking the third time the Lincoln Center’s funding body - the Lincoln Center Corporate Fund - has honored the renowned designer. The event raised over USD $1.6 million with stars in attendance including Kate Upton, Natalia Vodianova, Drew Barrymore and Chelsea Handler. The ceremony saw iconic comedian Jerry Seinfeld join Stella McCartney onstage for an intimate and amusing conversation.
Political and Retail Turbulence in Hong Kong
Political instability in Hong Kong due to the recent wave of electoral reform pro-democracy protesters has reportedly affected the retail landscape, with a decline in visitors from mainland China and a reduction in flow of local retail traffic. In the wake of the charged political atmosphere Italy’s luxury retailers have called for a temporary reduction of their stores rents according to the president of the Italian Chamber of Commerce. The chamber has 260 members, with luxury brands including Prada, Ferragamo and Gucci. The chamber’s president Fabio De Rosa remarked that whilst most private landlords were not prepared to respond to the request, the Hong Kong Land authorities were trying to hear the concerns of the tenants.
Walk the Pitti Immagine Uomo
Pitti Immagine Uomo, the world’s most important trade show for men’s clothing and accessories, is asking its attendees to take a walk during its next edition held from January 13-16, 2015, in an edition dubbed “Walkabout Pitti”. The meditative and social act of walking is the major thematic of the show, with architect Oliviero Baldani helping to create a “mixed terrain of different experiences and trails” within the Fortezza Da Basso building and walks plotted through the whole of Florence.
