Stephen Hawking Biopic Creates Oscar Buzz
The New York City premiere of 2014 British biographical romantic drama The Theory of Everything was held at the Museum of Modern Art.
The Stephen Hawking biopic stars British actor and rising star Eddie Redmayne in the lead role, while British actress Felicity Jones plays the role of Hawking’s first wife Jane Wilde Hawking.
Eddie Redmayne looked especially debonair in a black suit, which he accessorized with a white pocket square. Felicity Jones chose a long-sleeved black Elie Saab dress with lace panel detailing, which she paired with Ana Khouri earrings.
Eddie Redmayne spoke to Fashion One about his role, saying, “It feels like it’s just been a long journey, this one. I know that Anthony, the writer, spent 10 years trying to get this made and obviously Stephen and Jane’s story for me is such an extraordinary one. So it feels like it’s been a long journey but I’m thrilled to be here.”
Of her experience making the film, Felicity Jones revealed, “It’s so great to be celebrating a film that we cared so deeply about making, and that people are interested in it and a responding to it is wonderful.”
Other attendees included director James March, writer Anthony McCarten, cinematographer Benoit Delhomme and actress Megan Boone.
The film has generated a lot of Oscar buzz since its release, and both Felicity Jones and Eddie Redmayne are speculated to make the Oscar’s shortlist next year.
