Madonna, born Madonna Louise Ciccone on August 16, 1958, is not just a pop star but also a songwriter, an actress and a businesswoman. Originally born in Bay City, Michigan, Madonna initially studied dance. After dropping out of college, Madonna moved to New York City and turned her hand to the music industry, releasing her first album, entitled Madonna, in 1983. The song “Holiday” was the first hit from this album and reached number 8 in the Billboards chart. Pop hits “Lucky Star” and “Borderline” followed next.
