Hot off the Fashion Press
This week’s hot topics include Rihanna, Angelina Jolie and the upcoming Victoria’s Secret show.
Rihanna
Superstar Rihanna is no stranger to the cover of Elle magazine, and recently posed for the US December issue. The singer showed off her radiant natural beauty with minimal make-up and natural, loosely tied hair. Inside, she showcased looks from the Fall/Winter 2014 haute collections including Valentino and Dior.
John Galliano
The last word in the John Galliano anti-Semitism saga came when the designer lost his wrongful dismissal claim against former employer Dior. The fashion powerhouse let Galliano go in 2011 following anti-Semitic comments; Galliano blamed damage to his mental health due to his long service as Dior’s creative director.
Victoria’s Secret
The official model list for the next Victoria’s Secret show promised fresh faces alongside veterans such as Allesandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima. In an unprecedented move, both Allessandra and Lima will model this year’s “Fantasy Bra”: a queenly creation of precious jewels and 18 carat gold.
Angelina Jolie
Hollywood leading lady Angelina Jolie talked politics in Vanity Fair’s December issue, saying that her work with the UN over the past ten years has shown her the importance of political involvement in tackling humanitarian issues. The star also opened up to the magazine about her marriage to fellow actor Brad Pitt.
Valentino
Valentino will hold its 2015 haute couture runway show in Rome to mark the opening of its new, 1,500 square-meter flagship store in the Italian capital.
Vestiaire Collective
Vestiaire Collective, the French trader in pre-owned luxury goods, officially opened in the US this week. The US store is the latest in a series to be opened in places including the UK, Germany and Spain.
